Selling CS2 Skins For Crypto: How It Works And What To Watch
Selling skins for crypto is the reverse of buying them: a third-party site takes the item by trade offer and pays you in a coin. Cryptoflip does not take skins at all, deposits are crypto only, so this guide is about how selling works anywhere and what to watch for.
Instant sale or a listing
Most sites offer two ways to sell. An instant sale pays you straight away at a price the site sets. A listing lets you set the price and waits for a buyer. Instant is convenient and almost always lower; a listing gets closer to market price if you can wait.
The Steam Market price is not the cash price
Money from a Steam Community Market sale can only be spent inside Steam, and Valve takes fees on every sale. That is why Steam Market prices often sit above what a site will pay in crypto. Compare crypto offers with each other rather than with the Steam figure.
Trade holds affect when you get paid
The sale is a Steam trade, so Steam's rules apply. A recently traded item may still be inside its seven-day cooldown, and an account without Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator faces longer holds. Some sites pay only once the trade has fully cleared.
Pick the payout network carefully
If you are paid in USDT or USDC, the network matters as much as the coin. Give an address on the network the site says it pays on, and if you plan to deposit the coins somewhere afterwards, check that place accepts the same network.
The scams aimed at sellers
Fake buyers send look-alike trade offers, impersonate site support, or ask you to log in through a link they provide. Never share your Steam Web API key, never log in through a link from a stranger, and check every trade offer's items before you confirm it in the authenticator.
Price the exact item
Float, wear, pattern and stickers move the value of a skin a long way. Before accepting an instant price, look up the same item with the same wear on a couple of markets.
Selling for crypto works well when you compare offers, watch the network you are paid on, and treat every unexpected trade offer as suspect. If you then want to play, Cryptoflip takes the crypto, and its CS2 Skins page explains how a balance can come back out as an item.
